Just finished this painting of my surrogate daughter, Chelsea. I worked from a photograph I took in Europe of her 15 years ago. Chelsea has had a sad and trouble filled life, and since I have lost track of her whereabouts, but still think of her every day, the process of painting her in this peaceful pose has given me some peace, as well.
As I begin to immerse myself in my art heart's journey once again, I am hoping to share it with those who have an interest. Being in the Pacific Northwest is fertile ground for the next level of exploration.
For me, it is all about finding my way back to the limitless joy that art provides, as balance to the pain and darkness, on the other side. Painting is one part, but the sound of music, creative writing as expression, and performance art all embody who I really am.
I love to teach, using my skills in art therapy and I hope to be of service in some way, from this place in my heart, to my new community.
